THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW

THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW

One could share what a heart would allow
Back then, when woke was not a real word
Without ever a need for it to be defended
Things that were genuine personal feelings
But nowadays, law has become corrupted
And social exchanges regularly disrupted
Now it’s a monitoring of private dealings
Even when any offence was not intended
Social norms have become quite absurd
But it is a fact, that was then, this is now

Dear howard, altho short this poem is powerful and conveys your thoughts in a manner that fits the prompt the very well! I especially loved “Back then, when woke was not a real word Without ever a need for it to be defended” so many do not know the word woke still! Creative one. Thank you for supporting my contest. Pleasure reading this, congratulations on your win
