That Was Then and This Is Now

When we made a call it cost a thin dime We had no paramedics or fancy defibrillators We had no microwaves or food in a box We had no trash-compactor or garbage disposal We had no gas lawnmower or battery powered saw Our food did not have a shelf life of 5 years Our shoes were made in America and lasted 3 years Our 911 was dial O-operator and no maps on our phone Our bikes took us every where not or mom and dads Our street light came on and we ran home We had respect for our elders and listen to what they said We mowed lawns to make money not ask mom and dad We built things from nothing with our own two hands We use to go steady instead of hoping into bed We used our imaginations to find things to do Our lights would turn off buy using a switch not talk into a machine We used a paper map to find our way that was always turned around If we needed to call someone we would find a pay phone We knew pone numbers by heart that was our memory, not 5 gigs We talked face to face not into some machine that has no meaning These gadgets you use makes you lazy and dumber not smarter Now these machines are smarter then you.
