That Unruly Evil Poisonous Member - James 3: 8

James chapter three and verse eight
this scripture pulls us up right hard
our tongue is described what is true
what can be done to help our guard

In Adam, we have inherited His sin
original sin as theologians call it
so we've no control over our tongue
depravity proves we're spiritually unfit

The tongue is full of evil desires
as satan draws us in his sinful ways
in our flesh, we're powerless to overcome
only in Christ's power can win the day

The apostle James opens this up
clearly showing what's at its root
sinful self loves gossip and the last word
loving to argue gun at hand to shoot

Truth doesn't have same effect as hear say
the sinful heart loves gossip far more
but turn to the Lord and HIs wise counsel
be filled with God's spirit shutting satan's door

('but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. ')
