Notes About The Poem

That Truth In My Mind

When it’s quiet, I’m alone and nobody can see,
I withdraw to the world I invent,
Where my thoughts are my own, nobody will judge,
And I breathe my own little lament.

I’m safe on this raft, this raft of my truth,
My truth where I’m no longer blind.
Where everything’s real, as real as the wind,
The wind blowing around in my mind.

My eyes are shut tight, all entry is locked,
My ears only hear the silence of dry,
And my mind wonders, to the edge of the world,
And tiptoes on the clouds in the sky.

I love when it’s quiet and I’m alone in my head,
And I can love all there is in my heart,
And appreciate all that I ever will be,
And exist in an imagination of art.

it's a good thing to be able to meditate and consistantly enjoy the solace and you express that sentiment very well

Lewes you put much thought into your words. Many people feel the way you do, and you have captured it very well: Peggy

While admiring the lovely imagery and flow of the words I observed you are gifted poet with a noble soul and loving heart proving what I knew: from some rare people what is burning there is pure art distilled by experience of life. Enjoyable sharing love.

Very intuitive. I agree with some comments that solitude is need at times, especially when writing poems that “empties” the soul. Thank you for sharing this version of our poetic selves. Best for 2018, and keep writing. Rainbow.

You have expressed what, as poets, we all sometimes need to experience...Solitude! The two great 20th century poets, W B Yeats and Ezra pound, retired away for several consecutive winters to Stone Cottage in the county of Sussex for just this reason...To seek out the muses through solitude. All the very best for your New Year, Lewis...May it be a happy and rewarding one! :) john

Solitude sure is a gift and it's useful for writing so well. This poem describes me in my "alone" time. Very great work here! :) ~~keep writing (I rate this a 7)

Pure poetry, Lewis. Absolutely riveting and honest. I love introspective and strong self-analysis poems. The search within is always the most adventurous journey. Unfortunately, a lot of poets/poetesses don't want to venture there. Ty for sharing such a salient slice of your reality. Much appreciated, bruh. Love and joy to you.
