That Thing

To smiling faces one and all
I'm greeted by them on the wall

At the end of many a long hard day
I look forward to seeing what you say

And reading your poems that make me cry
And laugh and often wondering why

You're not off signing books in some big mall
Instead of reading my stupid poem so small

So many here have got "that thing"
Stories to tell and songs to sing

So thank you for the time you spend
Encouraging me and calling me friend

Very sweet sentiments. An endearing poem and lovely gesture to the soup members. I haven't been keeping up with the contest winners lately, but by the comments I see this was a winner. Congrats :)
