That Phizzing Sound

It was not the scent that embarrassed me Nor the sidewise glances here and there It was a slow phizzing sound that came out While I slowly passed the gaseous air. I tried my best to hold it in by tightening My butt cheeks like a famous levitator But try as I did, that phizzing sound came out When I let one loose in the elevator. written on July 31, 2021 especially for "When I Let One Loose In the Elevator" Poetry Contest sponsored by Charles Messina

Yes, we all forget the tell tale signs of an escaping fart, with it all depending on good hearing, or a good nose to know who dealt it, so funny Milton . . . ; )

Thanks, Indiana. At my age they sometimes come with no warning whatsoever, and it can be very embarrassing to announce you are going to stand up with a psssst!

I can hear it, and recognize it well.This is why I prefer being alone in an elevator these days unless I am carrying my dog.

Gotcha! Yes, I think anyone would blame it on the dog. Glad you could heart it and recognize it...and din't have to smell it!!!!

Or, the dreadful "Phoot!" Thanks for your thoughts, Terry. I don't think I've experienced the "long drawn out squeal," and I certainly hope it is not something I'll experience any time soon.
