That Line of Want Within

THAT LINE OF WANT WITHIN

How did you know that such a thing
Hid beneath my scars and linens
My little line of want, my line held taut

Under white sheets as the sun pours through
Taking moisture from our wet mix
We run, hand in hand, in a violent dream
From the sin and the lust within
The water rose and met with repugnant ease
A question of beams and water-filled breeze
Lingering above our safety net
Waiting to stir the dares yet met
With the sheets askew and the moment baby blue
Talk of what was born, sure to be ridiculed
With a list of growing risks, lullabies ensued

Oh,
How did you know that such a thing
Hid beneath my scars and linens
My little line of want, my line held taut
