That Is the Summer

Well, it’s a bummer,
but that’s summer,
the humming heat
passed its peak
awful autumn leaks
Auburn leaf under feet
and the worst thing about September
with summer gone people look to December
and they remember
Christmas begins in November
and the countdown begins
