That Damned Gun: I'M Sorry

I'm sorry I took that damned gun
I would pretend I thought it was empty
but I knew it wasn't
and I could have stripped it
with my eyes shut.

I'm sorry I made a mess of your wall
but if I had been thinking clearly
I would have stood in a garbage bag
to save them the trouble
of finding me way later.

I'm sorry I forgot to leave a note
and that you will not hear any of this
for the hurt I have caused you all
that you will never be able
to forget or move forward from.

I'm sorry there are still laws in place
that allow us to acquire these things
for I am pretty sure right now
it was just a fleeting moment
and sleep would have sufficed.

I'm sorry.
