Thanksgiving with the Dogs
I am thankful for my improving health and grateful for all the prayers
thankful for all the health care professionals who look after me
thankful for my family and friends and peace within my life
and I am grateful for my three dogs who shed any loneliness away.
It will only be three dogs and me for this Thanksgiving holiday
but looking at my Sassy's face I got a whole turkey anyway
We will have a feast and watch some football after we pray
and take a nap or two being too full to play.
The smell of roasting turkey makes the house feel like home
can't let the dogs have em but make soup with the bones
No giblet gravy cook em with butter for the dogs
while on the roasted turkey neck I get to gnaw
Leftovers are a treat makes cooking a ease
just warm in the microwave and enjoy as you please
Turkey soup turkey sandwiches and turkey fried rice
all recipes for cooking with leftover turkey will suffice
My dogs like the turkey skin and they know they will get meat
a whole turkey is way too much for me alone to eat
Sometimes it is okay to be alone on a holiday
you relax and enjoy doing everything your way
Thanksgiving with the dogs, my two boys and new girl
never lonely with happy barking and three tails a wagging in a whirl.
