Notes About The Poem

Thanksgiving Party

THANKSGIVING PARTY

Turkey in the farm loitering proud with firm steps
Sometimes tip toe raising arrogant head high,
     sometimes running aimless looking on
     growing pumpkins in the field.

Carefree frolic bird sometimes flapping wings to soar
a little and settles safe shortly on farmyard
to descry array of yellow mellow pumpkins
    as if its fellow mates.
Farmer sells baskets of pumpkins and the turkey.
Turkey observes Halloween celebration carving designing pumpkins.

Feeling jealous watching honor of pumpkins,
Tempted to sit on the table beside pumpkins to taste sumptuous food.
Within one month its wish was fulfilled to reach the table
    on Thanks -Giving Party.
Not to eat but as an item being roasted.

Thanksgiving is not so much fun for the turkey. Good to remember. Enjoyed reading your poem, Anisha.
