Thanksgiving

This time of the year we are grateful for the blessings we have received; for our family, loved ones, a bountiful harvest, special memories, loving parents, faithful pets, teachers, friends.

I had to chuckle at 'faithful pets.' (Guess they help fill up the pews these days). It's the vestiges of the ghetto Jew in me, still viewing a dog as a 'hoont' (in Yiddish), something to be kicked rather than petted. Oh, well... Enjoy the pets!!

My dear gw, pets are NEVER EVER to be "kicked rather than petted." The dogs in my life have been a part of my family. Amazing, when no one has been there to greet me at the door, my dog has...a faithful friend.

And for being able to read and enjoy such poems as this one, L M. Happy Thanksgiving...a week early, but, hey, who's counting?

When you look around at other countries in the world you realise how lucky we are. We have a lot to be grateful for, a shame we don't celebrate it in the UK. Tom

I think it's a pretty unique holiday to the U.S.A. Has to do with the pilgrims and the Indians celebrating harvest.
