Thankless Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a gift placed upon the table
Eaten with only thought’s of the stomach
Placed before the eye waiting to be filled
Golden brown bread and melting butter

Thought’s running through your head of hunger
A wish on a Turkey wish bone with football games
Forgetting what you should have wished upon
Thankful is what’s received in vain

Family gatherings with looks of importance
Yet, thought’s wondering about these football games
Snow all around with children building a snowman
Glee and happiness but forgetting a blessing

This, a blessing of love and happiness

Unfortunately too many days are taken for granted in our lives, Wedding Anniversaries, Birthdays, Easter Day, Christmas Day, Mother Day, Fathers Day and Family day, a day of thanksgiving - what a beautiful day to remember and give thanks to God for. Well penned dear friend, hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
