Thank You For Your Wedding Gift
Thank You For Your Wedding Gift
By Elton Camp
Mary knew it was time she wrote
The wedding gift “thank you” note
For those who’d wisely given cash
She’s already sent them in a dash
As long as the amount was enough
Expressing thanks wasn’t tough
While for some paltry sum
It proved more hum-drum
For cheapskates, she didn’t care
Who didn’t even pay their share
Her wedding cost a lot of dough
Such skinflints shouldn’t even go
“No boxed gifts” didn’t work
Yet she must “thank” the jerk
If she could do the wedding over again
“Cash only” the invitation would begin
Still, she strove for something “sincere” to say
And sent the “thank you” notes on their way
