Thank You For the Day,

…THANK YOU FOR THE NIGHT!

 By Fatmir Terziu

In the long journey of metaphors

With beasts,

                    With insects,

                                        With bestiality within ourself

Hurried steps. Melting and kissing

A life measured by moving hands

Always entwined in the arithmetic

The movement of the pendulum with a screech

Thank you for the day, …thank you for the night!

Bikinis thrown into modern chests

In this path sown for, who knows?

Bouquets of Flowers that hold the smell of mould

A crumb,

              A promise

                              A stabbing disappointment.

Thank you for the day, …thank you for the night!

Instinctive combing during this journey

In windows,

                   Reflections,

                                     Crystal tires

Frozen ice. Melted ice

Statues with cold flesh erode themselves

‘He was born a hero!’ …’She died a heroine!’

Thank you for the day, …thank you for the night!

Hurried memories in lined papers

Among the single figures

                                        Double figures

                                                               Or triplets

Momentary distractions. Sadness and parting

A life which is recycled through memories

Ancient footsteps, old blemishes

Rest in the distant field

Thank you for the day, …thank you for the night!
