Notes About The Poem

Thank You

Thank you??

My heart is warmed
With all the caring
The generic letters and
All the staring

My heart is heavy
With sadness and despair
My lungs are clawing as they grasp for air
I wish for love, but does any one care?

I may be young
I may be an old haunted soul
I have a friend
As lonely as I, death our only goal

Hanging in the distance
Or hanging by a rope
We made a pact
The tiniest of suicidal hopes

I shouted in silence
Is anyone there?
Please, listen, listen to my total disrepair
My ears like an owls, yet no voices to share

Faint hopes
Doubtless dreams
Suicidal screams
My only choice to tie neck to rope

I tossed a poem out to the sea
Like a lifejacket, I just wanted to see
No one saw, and no one cared
Generic letters drowning, in the sea of despair

Poetry was my last breath of fresh air

Hi Arthur, Very sad poem, it touched my heart. Remember there is God that holds you, and loves you. Just think He brought you here and would never let you go. :) Tahira

Hi Arthur, First of all I must say your title alone compelled me to read your piece. As I started to read I was met by a profound darkness and sadness. Whether this is true or fiction it is written well. I also would like to say I care and you are still to this day one of my Soup Heroes: -) Alexis

my goodness, this is a bit morbid and I sure hope it has no bits of truth in it for you personally. But what incredible images. I especially liked the line about ears like owls. You sometimes come up with such spiffy images. I would never think of that! WEll, I wish I had more time here tonight but I need to get off pronto!! Later, gator!!

I thought a rope in the shed would do nicely. At the time my thinking was "If I was not here, he could come back and they would all live happily ever after." The amount of living and loving I have done since then Arthur..... Life is short enough without making it shorter.

Your poems on this subject are dark and sad but so eloquently penned ... That final stanza really brought tears to my eyes - I should mail you about these suicide poems but you write on the subject often so your soup mail box would be bulging - making this a fave :-) hugs Jan xx

If you wanted to deliver sadness dark enough to eclipse any upbeat mood the reader might be in, you succeeded! Ha - kinda. This write is laced with the weight of despair, while the color of hope fades more black with each line. Good job here, Arthur. For darkness, it is good darkness. My heart, she shivers ... CayCay

Thanks CayCay, writing is a way, in a way to take away the darkness.
