Texas Turmoil

Told we were safer to stay a home... The rising water in evening gloam, Told us how wrong we were to believe... Picked up our pets and prepared to leave. The sadness that comes from leaving homes Adjusters called, and insurance loans... Devastated fam'lies in great grief... Praying heartily for God's relief Rely on hope and faith to revive, With faith we pray will keep us alive. The rain keeps falling in large inches Our fate inescapably cinches That we must all faithfully abide, And know that our Lord will be our guide Through this great storm that is Texas size, That God will indeed help us surmise, Almighty is watching over us As politicians deign to discuss The shelters for us will be decreed, By the severity of our need. America please pray for us all. We are placing our lives in God's call. © Connie Marcum Wong

Hi Connie, I feel so deeply for the people who are caught in such disasters. The government can say what they want but the global warming is a danger. The weather is changing so much. If these disasters are always going to befall, the government has to be ready for the backlash and help has to be immediate. You write this one from the heart and believe me, it touches mine with such sadness. I remember this well. Such sadness that such things can happen. Have a wonderful Friday. Hugs....Mike...XX

Your words shed light on the devastating reality that ignorance on climate change kills. Our glutinous greed and the harmony of nature are on a dangerous collision course. I feel for everyone affected and appreciate your poetic gentle soul bringing awareness, love and prayers to all. Wonderful writing Connie xo

Connie, this was so heartfelt and compassionate of you to write for these poor souls. The thing with the insurance. That is really scary. I think if it happened to Utah (by earthquake) oh my, we just never know when we might be the next one hit. I need to tie a ribbon on my hand not to forget to make a red cross donation at the local smith's store. I was just there today and forgot. Have a good day. I am off to my daughter's now.

Someone needs to look out for the victims of this terrible disaster, because the self-serving policiticians and sycophantic bureaucrats only take care of themselves. Evidence of climate change smacking them in the face and still they insist the emperor is fully clothed! Thoughts and best wishes go out to all affected. Nicely-penned, Connie... Regards, John.

I agree John. "A study from The Sierra Club that compiled statements from leaders of 195 countries found that Trump would be the only head of state to declare climate change a hoax." I think the proof is in the pudding...Texas can attest to that along with all the other states affected. Thank you for saying what so many of us are thinking! : )

A very heart moving poem. Great write dear friend. I can imagine the problem of Texas people as similar situation is being faced in India too of heavy to very heavy rains & floods all over. Perhaps Nature wants to show its anger that enough is enough you have played too much with me & it is time that you learn how to respect the God gift of Nature or else..I wrote a poem long back in 2009 anticipating what is happening now & I will rewrite few lines on Texas with a recall of Part II. l&bw always
