Line's Bitesize No 112 Contest ~ May 21, 2025

I am as fragile as butterfly wings but it is time to cut tethering strings, open the cage door to set myself free, for if I should choose to stay, what will become of me?

Hi Ma'am Lin. Your poem beautifully articulates a journey of self-liberation and growth. This piece captures the transformative moment of choosing freedom, emphasizing both the courage required and the profound implications of staying confined versus embracing the unknown. Congrats for the silver award.

Woahhh this is incredibly powerful and soul-stirring, my dear Lin! Truly stunning in every way and I love the way you've left a deep, lingering question here, so vulnerable, hued with fragility...I'm so fascinated by poems that capture the essence of butterflies as a symbolism and in an artistic manner, which you've done so cleverly here! "but it is time to cut tethering strings open the cage door to set myself free" Love that! Sometimes we need to decide our own freedom with will power & resilience.. and that last line left me pondering too! What a heart-touching piece! Love it, keep shining and writing always ~ sending best wishes and light ur way.

What a detailed review you’ve offered these lines, Hiya. I appreciate each one and you for being so generous with your reading and kind thoughts. Some caged butterflies sing like caged birds. ;-)

Hi, Deb. I needed to curb my appetite for sinister after what I made of Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle, so I wrote something a little lighter, but not much since I found myself caged. lol just kidding. Thanks, chick.

Ah linnersz, do you ever run out of words? How beautiful! I absolutely love the artwork too! And your poem. I once wrote a poem stating im fragile too , long time ago. Yours is so heartfelt and the ending is evocative! I especially love the line “ but it is time to cut tethering strings, open the cage door to set myself free,” ah such resilience! Hits deep! Yes! Best wishes! Pleasure reading! Sending you light always!

Run out of words... poetically never. Conversationally? Some may think I have too many. ;-) Thanks for your cheers, Ink. You know I'm grateful. The lady in the picture seems to perfectly fit my intentions in writing this one.
