terrors

Storm ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦

Give ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ fame,
¦¦¦¦ to ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ adore.

The ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ power aloud
Over ¦¦¦ ocean and ¦¦¦ land;
¦¦¦ voice ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ lightnings ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ fearful ¦¦¦¦ and frighted ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ the terror of the sound.

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ the ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ break;
The ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ tremble ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ reigns for ever ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ awful glories ¦¦¦¦¦

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ grace imparts;
Amidst ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦

You chose a great text and the Blackout poem is skillful - given the original interpretation of 'awful' (meaning 'great') 😊

That's a great tip! I can take an over long poem and use this as an editing too in a sense but also use it to redact bits of a poem that might be too personal! Definitely can be creative uses applied!

Two years ago - how time flies? It was fun to judge that one. I did a Blackout poem, The light, using the same text from back then, as soon as I saw the Fun & Games. I think we can choose our own script to work from - I have not been back since. Poets may use my text as it is not copyright protected (AI-generated).

Thank you Su - the poem it assigned (Psalm 29) wasn't up my street, but thought I'd work with it anyway. It reminded me of the time you had a similar concept for your contest and despite there being the same starting material, the results varied enormously 🥰

I wondered what blackout poetry was LG now I know. If for contest good luck. Not long back from the New Forest, it was like being abroad. Hope you're enjoying the heat. Tom
