Tennessee's 'streetcar'

Best seat in the place puts a smile upon my face 'tis so comfy softest velvet the deepest shade of red I sit back so relaxed as I await my treat I am happy to be resting my poor old aching feet Awaiting with pure joy Escaping is my ploy Entering a world I love This world ~ a world of make believe doth take my breath away Both dreamlike and bizarre I watch Tennessee’s Streetcar… Witnessing fine acting as characters are portrayed Some they will play happy Some they will play sad I sit inside this grand theatre it truly cannot get much better Giving a standing ovation for 'tis time for celebration And now for me ~ you see the greatest yearning for to be upon that stage ~ an actor's life for me Written 4th May 2022 Contest A BRIAN STRAND PREMIERE Sponsor Brian Strand 3rd Place

An enjoyable verse Ann, they made a film too, Marlon Brando played Stanley if I remember right. Hope you're keeping well. Tom

Many thanks Tom, Yes I have seen the film too, in fact have the video version, so still watch from time to time. Marlon was great as Stanley... my Parkinson's has not been so good lately, but I am still here so that's a bonus... Sending love and thanks from Ann xx

Ann, never saw Streetcar named Desire and really can't say why as I loved Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.My favorite line being when Big Daddy detects the odor of mendacity. All the world's a stage my friend so you In truth have played a part. Thanks for sharing of yourself today.

Thank you Vickey so good to get your lovely comments. I too love his plays. I went yesterday to see a Terrance Rattigan play ~ an English play right who in his day 60's/70's was considered highly controversial, as his plays were often very different and you were never quite sure how they would end... With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Ah, how we enjoy living vicariously through the characters in an exceptionally good play, well-acted. You carried me into the theater, Ann, and reminded me of many wonderful evenings at the Virginia Repertoire Theater.
