Ten Cents

Ten cents is only that,
Hardly enough
To be worth picking up
It won’t buy milk,
It won’t buy bread,
Not even the paper
Made to be read.

It’s a shining small coin
Not worth very much
Smaller than an egg
Waiting to hatch.
It’s the sort of thing
One gives away
Without feeling loss
On many a day.

Imagine now,
That you be me
You have someone there
That you love and need
He is a man not there
With a mind of his own
And he leaves you ten cents
With a note that his going.

He tells you that ten cents
Is all you are worth
You sit down and cry out
And want to be heard
But there’s no-one here now
And you cry all alone.
There is no one that cares then
Nothing but pain

You want it so over,
This life that your in,
You look for some reason
That makes death a sin.
It would all be so easy
To just slip on by
Your only worth ten cents
And no one would cry.

good lord, Robyn, I sure hope this is not true, is it? someone would actually be that cruel. A person that would do a thing like that is totally the worthless one and you are ten times BETTER to be rid of him. that's my 10 cents bit of advice! Luv, Andrea

we are here for a reason. we all have a part in the world. I have been through some sad times in my youth. i thought of ending it one night on a bridge overlooking a river, and i almost did, i was drunk and the next day i was glad i did not do it. this happened after my first wife and me got a divorce. well i remarried had two more kids and a grand daughter. my wife and me have been married 38 years. now just think what would have happened if i would have ended it then?

In reality, the person who did this has little or no worth. They need to put others down to make themselves feel better. Very sad. This touches my heart deeply. I hope it is no reflection of your life sweet friend. An extremely heartbreaking write. Love, Shar

The pain this poem evokes, is heart rending. Each person has value and no one has the right to be so cruel. They are the ones to pity, those who inflict hurt and pain. It reflects on their own character. We all are worthy of love and kindness. Blessings....Carrie
