Temptation

Sweet talking chocolate the curtain falls eyes in darkness playing the field You played in the grand entry promising to never part striking to the violin cords I sold my soul to you I gave all sold out completely the hidden truth behind the back Lied in awful words deeply hurting scratching within one's mind The soul sees light you gave yourself to another man growing black poison begins to dwell In bringing demons put on the table I was not even worth the sacrifice as the ocean swells In deep thundering roars temptation comes a storm motion in waves within emotions Dark bottomless deep hell with it's torment pain burning aches heartbroken empty shell I saw your demon it bound me in chains dropped heavy in the deepest pit dungeon chained I broke free in loves holy light no more the fool the smelling of roses music to my mind Playing the hearts tune golden upon the strings lost in temptation cries the heart of you in me Died within the demon a name crying sweet pain as it began

Whether it is for true love or for chocolate, we always regret it when we give in to our temptations! :) Excellent poetry, Liam. Thank you for suggesting it. If you like, you might enjoy reading my poem "Scarred Heart".

yes, sometimes pain can be so deep as to imagine hell and demons. Great way to play on those metaphors!
