Temples to View
There was a gift when I was young,
temples to view from all around.
I was a flourishing flower following along,
unlimited pollination abound.
Then a sickle struck never to be seen,
not a glancing blow, but one that would bring decay.
Gifts, flowers and flames all swept aside and snuffed out,
the temples locked away.
Decades would pass with constant storms,
rumbling ruminations from these clouds.
The frequent rains that accompanied these bouts,
never to bring growth to my stagnant roots.
Still more time came and went, I thought what a blessing,
the growth I was to others, sturdy and strong.
But alas as it always must be,
you can only hold the past in for so long.
My world began to change, at first just a glimmer
then finally into a full eruption.
Thoughts and ideas abounded,
running wild into the night as if it was a creation.
My mind had awakened from this haunting slumber,
my quest has been renewed, I will never be bound.
I have found my gift from when I was young,
temples to view from all around.
