Tell the Future To Wait For Me
Tell the future to wait for me
I’m running as fast as I can
The promise of gold
By the story I told
Is more likely a flash in the pan
Tell the future to wait for me
I’m still catching up with my past
I went with the flow
For the moment I know
That my labors are worthy at last
Tell the future to wait for me
Pick me a rose in the spring
Promise me true
That my joy will be you
For the beauty of faith in a ring
Tell the future to wait for me
Wipe all my tears when I grieve
Lend me your heart
For the day that I start
To be true in the way I believe
Tell the future to wait for me
Listen to me when I say
Leave me behind
For the sake of the grind
But my spirit is leaving today
Tell the future to wait for me
The mountains are calling my name
Finding my strength
I will get there at length
For the peace of the valley I claim.
