TELL IT TO A POET

When you're torn Between holding on and letting go Pause, breathe, reflect, compose Steady your heart Then tell it to a poet. If dark clouds gather Dimming your light, blurring your path Don’t take another step. Just halt And tell it to a poet. When time stands still And your clock ticks no more Days stumble like dwarfs Nights suffocate with silence Hold your breath Then tell it to a poet. A poet can’t part the sea But they’ll build you a boat from dreams Calm the storm Guide you through Until you reach the shore. A poet can’t fill your belly with bread But if you hunger for truth They’ll feed your mind, free you from dread Quenching your thirst And easing your hunger. When life forgets to live Tell it to a poet. When your thoughts blur Don’t stare in distance Pause And tell it to a poet.
