Teenager In Love
Nabokov's greatest love story
Brought to life in the mind of a lonesome DJ
Turning the records, waiting for the right note
To fall upon his jewel
For whom he waits,
Wondering if she wears the cowgirl's attire
If he is her Wicked Game
If she could love him just the same
Betting that she does
As he watches, a little too close
Approaching the deadline of her youth
Where she would be waiting
Attainable and legal, without shame for her certificate would prove
He was not insane
To love a girl half his age, and perhaps
She would whisper in his ear
Sweet nothings he's been waiting to hear
Since the ripe age of innocence lost
And cognizance of the predatory older man
That lingers too long
Where he does not belong
Singing a song:
Teenager in Love
