Technology Running Amok

Technology Running Amok

By Elton Camp

The newest electronic devices I really enjoy
At home and at work I always strive to employ
But when I met my supervisor the other day
I didn’t much like what it was she had to say

For this big, walking, beeping robot thing
Right into our place of business did bring
She said, “Well hello and how are you Bob?
I want to introduce your new assistant Rob.”

I hadn’t felt that I had need of any assistant,
But her tone showed I’d better not be resistant
“Rob doesn’t have to be given any monthly pay
Without rest, he will do just anything we say.”

“And the best thing about Rob is, I believe
That he never uses a single day of sick leave.
And annual vacations, he doesn’t require
So that temporary workers we have to hire.”

“And when he gets old, we can throw him out.
A costly retirement plan he doesn’t care about.
Oh, and just as quickly as you can do it, Bob,
I want you to teach all about your job to Rob.”
