Tears of a God

Tears rain down
falling down
all on the little children

their heads lift high
watching fiery sky
all stare up so far away

heaven is not here
on this dirty sphere
but in the hearts of men

when the tears fall down
burning the ground
washing souls of sin

when children die
i hope their hearts fly
and reach that place i'll never see

the tears of god
flood this sod
that spans from fires to sea

i bleed here now
and wonder how
a god would weep so much

then i think
of lover's on the fatal brink
and remember heaven's touch

tears will dry
and angels sigh
and children will pass away

and here i stand
just a man
and here i will e'er stay
