Tears As Ice

When the tears fall
as they surely will
know thy love
is safe with me
until the sun stands still-

For thy countenance
bears upon my heart
and from thy warm embrace
I wish never to be apart-

Whither summers come
and winters surely cease
truly thy forbearance
my only substance
therein my peace-

Until eternal sleep
claims our enduring souls
let us be as one
for apart we are never whole-
