Tears

“Just like a raindrop”
I think
It rolls down my cheek
I gasp for air
Why?
What had I done
to deserve the sharp stab
of a knife into my heart
I wipe my eyes
My make-up smudges
Another gasp of air
I cry, thinking
of all we could be,
thinking of all
we could be
of all we would’ve been.
My tears are forcing me
to wander the desert of lost
hopes, lost love.
Why does letting go hurt so much?
Its MY decision
It’s MY life

So why am I crying?
