Tear Drops

Where do they come from these tears laced with salt They rush like rivers or squeeze out in drops They measure emotions and assign fault In a mad world where the pain never stops I should have told her what I never said So much to regret as the tears flow down She lies in her grave alone, cold and dead Forever to be in this one horse town The ghost of a conscience haunts me tonight She deserved better than I had to give I loved her so long I surely lost sight Of the simple things we all need to live So now these tears will define who I'll be As I will no longer be part of "we" 2/11/2017
