The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Team Spirit

I asked the cricket coach
If I could play on the First Grade team,
He said that couldn't happen,
It was only in my dream.

I said, what about if the whole team got sick,
Would I stand a chance then?
He shook his head from side to side,
And crossed my name off with a pen.

Well, I guess, I better tell you coach,
Ah, you know that stew that I brought in,
I suggest the team don't eat it,
If they want a chance to win.

But alas, the warning came too late,
The team had already tuckered down,
They got a lot of runs that day,
Just not on the cricket ground.

G'day John... he-he, so you've put your hand up for the team's chef. It looks like there might be plenty of runs John. Catch you soon - Lindsay

Hello Lindsay, Such a clever comment again Lindsay. Every time I think about what the kid was up to it makes me laugh. I've sent this poem to a teacher friend suggesting he use it to sponsor good sportsmanship at his school. I wonder what his reply will be. Kind regards--John
