Teachers Wearing Jeans

Teachers wearing jeans to school
Would have never happened in my day
As a student

They would not have been allowed to wear pants either
For in elementary school we had no male teachers
and in the 50’s and 60’s the women wore dresses

Jeans became pretty popular in the fifties, but
I honestly remember girls in skirts until the late sixties
When we acquired polyester and everyone made pantsuits

Pantsuits were the rage for about five years
Now I am not sure anyone would know what polyester is
The flower children made blue jeans okay for women
of course they added embellishments like embroidered flowers 
But that is okay

It is amazing to me how peculiar we are about styles,
fabrics, and fashion. I walk through the antique malls
looking at all of the clothes that are “vintage” and I smile
recognizing most of them.

(Since when are the 1990's 'vintage'?!) hahahaa! ;D Caren Krutsinger January 24, 2020 at 6:02 AM The 2000's are vintage to people now. Ha! They must think the 1970's are ANCIENT.

Evelyn Judy Buehler January 21, 2020 at 10:36 PM I can remember being in high school, and seeing a few of the girls protesting by wearing pants to school. That's the last I remember of the school dress code, which was strictly enforced when I was younger. Enjoyed this one, Caren. Caren Krutsinger January 22, 2020 at 1:44 AM We could wear pants under our dresses in the "olden days" as long as we took them off the SECOND we got to school, so we could freeze our legs.

Eve Roper January 21, 2020 at 8:53 PM interesting write, Caren, didn't start wearing jeans until my early 30's when I met my husband. I still hate the way they feel when I wear them. Caren Krutsinger January 21, 2020 at 8:59 PM We get coupons to wear jeans at school when we donate so much money to United Way,but I do not think they are comfortable at all.
