Teachers Wearing Jeans
Teachers wearing jeans to school Would have never happened in my day As a student They would not have been allowed to wear pants either For in elementary school we had no male teachers and in the 50’s and 60’s the women wore dresses Jeans became pretty popular in the fifties, but I honestly remember girls in skirts until the late sixties When we acquired polyester and everyone made pantsuits Pantsuits were the rage for about five years Now I am not sure anyone would know what polyester is The flower children made blue jeans okay for women of course they added embellishments like embroidered flowers But that is okay It is amazing to me how peculiar we are about styles, fabrics, and fashion. I walk through the antique malls looking at all of the clothes that are “vintage” and I smile recognizing most of them.
