Taught You Better Than This

So dark, hand stretching and shaky
How deep, how far, how did I get here?
Too scared to cry, the heart beat slows
She shouts my name, ears prolong up
Taught you better than this! She shouts

Yes mama, am faint and fallen too deep
I whisper loud enough for only my ears
I make a step but slide deeper in the mud
Sharp slap across my cheeks stings deep
Taught you better than this! She shouts

Life’s hard mama, death feels like peace
Money with no peace just an empty shell
Heart been cheated, trust been a hard word
Bones ache at night, brains can’t sleep either
Taught you better than this! She shouts

Sun streams in, see the angel’s blinking eyes
Hope never lost won the mightiest of battles
Floors silence when my footsteps softly steps
From the stage, I see ears longing for my words
You taught me better mama, now I teach best.

Fight the demons, the lies of failing and downfall
You are a queen, wear the crown and match on
Never let a fall keep you on the dusty messy floor
Rise up, greatness is not for the soft and fearful
You taught me better mama, now I teach best.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
