Tariffs

For your Super Bowl party,
When buying your chips,
Cross off guacamole
As one of your dips.

For most avocados
Are farmed way down south
And travel from Mexico
Straight to your mouth.

The same will apply to
Tequila and beer,
Since tariffs raise prices,
Or that’s what I hear.

So Mexican products,
Canadian, too,
Will get more expensive
For me and for you.

Though prices of eggs
Have been causing a shock,
Just wait ‘til folks find
It’s the same with their guac!

That's what I hear, too - I guess we need to fasten our seatbelts (and reach for our wallets), and hope that's not the worst thing that may be coming down the pike.

Well said Ilene, The man is barmy thinking he can just walk over countries like this and imposing high tariffs which will impact on the whole of the USA and elsewhere - and i see Canada is already fighting back. hugs Jan xx

Ilene, those products are only the first of many that will cost us to pay more for imports from Mexico, Canada, and even China. Ah... but he's going to do such wonderful things for the country... such as make enemies of our closest neighbors, causing a division like the one he's initiated in America... brother against brother and now country against country. All for the greed of a power-hungry menace. A felon cannot vote but he can become President. How ridiculous is that?

Too true, a witty and eloquent poetic assessment. We’re now in a trade war, let’s hope it sticks to commerce. Is this really what they voted for? (rhetorical;) xomo!
