Tanka New York City

Trees start to blossom
Rising from the city streets
New York battles on
Thousands of eyes look upward
Joy in the metropolis

My children were born in NYC where we lived for many years and I enjoyed reading this well-written Tanka! Have a great weekend, my friend! Pandita

Do I detect sarcasm or is it just my loathing of city life that persuades me to see it? Lines 2, 3 and 4 helped me believe that you were delivering a sarcastic twist and, frankly, I enjoyed thinking of it that way. I'm willing to be wrong, but I definitely see city dwellers denying themselves full Spring and settling for steel, glass and concrete delivered spring in your tanka. Again, I enjoyed it that way! All the best ... CayCay
