This is an extract taken from my own poem "The scenes of Korea". I had been lucky enough to observe the ritual while on a visit long back
Walk softly and watch
The rite of Tanabata
taking away nebuta.
People write wishes
On paper strips tied to tree
Mostly to a bamboo tree
