Tall and Proud

The tree stands resplendent
tall and proud in all its autumn glory

Colder weather makes one shudder
reminding us soon the leaves will drift slowly to the ground
gracefully fluttering like a ballerina on point,
turning to mulch....revitalising the earth.
Stop and listen as they fall,.... like the bars of a quiet lullaby

Take a deep breath as the earthy smell
Penetrates the nostrils.

Soon winter will appear
Snow will cover the bare branches
so they twinkle in the watery sunlight

Winter the time when the tree regains its strength.... come spring
leaf buds appear..nature reborn.
