Talk To Me

Things have changed.
Aint like they use to be.
Our lives have come between us
What more can I believe.

Won't tell me what you're thinking
Don't tell me its ok.
The thing you are avoiding
Has made me feel this way.

You need to talk to me
Tell me that you care
The little things, you do, but
There's one that can't compare.

Talk to me
Don't just tell me what to do.
The little things are sweet, but
There's more for me and you.

You know just what I'm saying
You know that I know too.
Don't let our lives mislead us
There's more that we can do.

You need to talk to me
Look into my eyes.
We can be so much better. If you realize. (that)
You need to talk to me
Tell me that you care
The little things you do, but there's one that can't compare.
Talk to me...share with me, care with me....

I like this, Ray..it’s so hard when a partner won’t talk! I ended an engagement like that. Sweet guy but I can’t live with no communicators,no way. Your heart is so much in it, Love songs like Gershwin and Cole Porter do not require overly done imagery to get their point across, do they. Pangie xx

Dear Ray, your poetic heart pleads and bleeds so tenderly and beautifully. I hope she talks to you. A poignant and lyrical piece, my friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Indeed, Z, I agree with your deep thoughts below. Like you, I wish we all could see ourselves through others’ eyes.. how truly illuminated we would be.. and yes, we are our worst enemy for sure. I applaud your courage in expressing your rich and resonant thoughts with me, my friend. It takes courage to face vulnerabilities too. I’m so glad your beautiful poetry holds your heart’s expression.

I always said, "familiarity breeds contempt". After a time, when you really know someone, contempt moves into the relationship. If one is not forgiving or has a long memory, they use this to distance themselves from a deeper connection. This I believe is the cause of miscommunication and possibly divorce. I've seen people become friends after a relationship. That's why I penned "the eyes of the soul". If we really could see ourselves through their eyes we would be better off, but there is that damn ego picking people off. We are the cause of our own demise. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I struggle with this because when I am open I am vulnerable. Been there a time or 4 and struggle to open up except through my songs and poem.

Thank you Susan! When I read hint of autumn I'm struck by your talent to use abstract to express the thought, induce color and movement. I'm too much af a literal thinker. I'm inspired by you to use more fruitful language. Not so matter of fact. Thanks for the kind words. Z
