Unfortunately your poem describes a sad/tragic situation which was expected to occur once American troops started to move out Afghanistan. Let's see how this political game will evolve :( Regards // paul [ps...thank you for reading my poem to Carolyn.]

Thank you so much, Andrea. I don't do Acrostics unless I feel they work particularly well with the subject matter. This was a natural. Thanks.

Nobody's 'fault' but the Taliban, though our political classes will fecklessly continue to blame each other -- while Iran, Russia, China and Pakistan all take advantage... And so it goes...

Absolutely, Gershon. Another international crisis with no real solution. But, it is time we got out of there. I was not for one more American life lost in Afghanistan!

Powerful acrostic, Milt. Truly a sad sight; Afghan people clutching to plane taking off. Tsk Tsk Tsk. It's heartbreaking:-( Something must be done about this!

Yes, Edward, it is so heartbreaking. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much any of us can do about it.

Yep, and it appears that it was all for nothing because the Afghani forces we trained dropped their weapons and gave up without even a fight! So sad.

It is worrying what is happening. Has all that effort and investment that was done in good faith now come to nothing? I hope and pray that the people of Afghanistan can find a way ahead in the free world.

I would like nothing better than that, Tony, but I'm afraid they haven't stood up to the test, from what I'm reading in the news.

It's tragic to see Milton, they'll take Afghanistan back to the dark ages. All the good the west have done over the past twenty years will soon be forgotten. God help them. Tom

That is so true, Tom, and there is almost nothing that can be done to stop it now. Now the blaming starts... unfortunately. But, the War in Afghanistan thoroughly defeated the Russians, and perhaps we'll get out without such dire consequences for our country. I'm sick of blaming, though! We did what we could, and it simply wasn't enough.
