TALES OF THE AFRICAN PEOPLE

The truth of our story is clouded in doubt Our history is a woven craft Where every image is an abstract A canvas that strays from the truth. The tales of the African people Are older than the histories written How we thrived in our simplicity Is a mystery they can't seem to fathom. What became of the tales of old Of how we lived amidst diamonds and gold? Of the courageous men, bold and true Who stood up for justice, their stories untold? The tales of the African people Go beyond the pages of books Rooted in ancient traditions They demand all the admiration they should.
