Taking the Knee

I'm against police brutality - who wouldn't be?
However, I'm still standing for the national anthem,
we're not governed by another countries diplomacy,
you can 'take the knee' if you believe passionately.

Let's lay it on the line - why do people resist arrest?
That's asking for trouble unless you want 'soft' policing;
you're proud of your colour, we'll never tire of it,
same for all Mac - please don't shoot me in the back.

Trump has his hand across his chest, supposed to know best,
but he doesn't, he can be removed by the electorate,
what if he's not? Are the same problems to carry on?
There's no guarantee that a new leader will be any better.

Ignorance is rife - thinking people are still throwing bones,
even some suggesting parallels with 'Game of Thrones.'

It took the death of a man to highlight what is indeed a global problem. People have had enough, everyone should be treated equally and fairly, whatever their colour. Tom
