Take Me To the Old Country
I am drinking my sugary sweet pink grapefruit juice
when I spy it
a black something floating about
It is waving to me.
Yelling something.
I fish it out and get a magnifying glass.
I can see it is a spider now.
It asks me to get it back to the old country.
I don’t know which old country.
It gives me a bunch of hints.
The voice is so low…..
Greece? Spain? Scotland?
I am straining to listen.
Then I have an idea.
There is a magnifier app on my I-phone.
I run to get it.
When I return the spider is gone.
Have you seen my I-phone? I ask my husband.
He holds up my I-phone and says “yes, I just smashed a spider with it.”
