Symphony of the Abyss
My feet stand upon the edge of a dizzying cliff,
The world has locked me inside a single barren room,
Sneering at my transient, temporary life.
Yet I refuse the path of the beast;
I shall cross the bridge of the Übermensch.
Upon the perilous rope suspended in the hollow air,
With sweat dripping from my brow,
I shall, at last, stand face-to-face with my destiny.
Though the monstrous waves swallow and devour me,
Though I thrash and struggle to survive,
I know I am a creature sunken beneath the abyss.
Yet, I breathe.
Piercing through my heart and lungs,
I will to live.
Look, there is the light—
That wicked glare spun by the desperate wolves and foxes.
In madness, I once grasped for it,
Only to find that false light was but hollow dread and faded dust.
Rather, let me dwell with the gaze of the deep-sea fish,
Its silent breath, and the sway of its tail.
How sweet it would have been, had I been there with thee?
I revere the hands of modern healing,
And lo, I shall rise again.
Yet, I cast even that resurrection away.
For as a single flower blooms and falls,
As the seasons turn and all creation rises anew,
Even if I die, my legacy, my DNA, shall be reborn
To gently cradle me once more.
The self that I am now, the self that you are—
All of it is but vanity.
Yet, what truly endures is this fragile moment:
Your voice, the thread of your hair, your sun, and your beautiful, deceitful words.
Everything, with your empty cup, already drapes me in sweet intoxication.
