Symbols of a Dove

I'm thinking back to a time

A time I had forgotten

When I used to call you mine

Before our love turned rotten

I can't picture your face

My memories are bleak

They seem to be replaced

Or lightened every week

I'm trying to hear your voice

But all I get is static

To be sad, or to rejoice?

Feelings remain erratic

And how could I forget

A scent I did admire

That healed me when upset

The water to my fire

I've seen our pictures fade

Guess they all should go

Not to be remade

It was lifetimes ago

So I struggle to remember

The symbols of a dove

I struggle to remember

That we'd ever been in love
