Swimming the dark

I don't know why but he swam away
Deep in the night he descended one faithful day
I never understood him, He never let me near
He’d just bite and push away

They say he was struggling, the night he disappeared
but I was right here, the room across the way
Even sharks still get help from prey
So i don’t get why he never tried to play

I heard that door, I saw him leave
I wish it was me who swam to the reef
Maybe if the roles were reversed, we’d both still be alive
But who am I to say, cause I just sat back and swayed
And now he’s gone swimming with the sharks
And that’s final say
