Swim

In the ache of ninety degrees
we float in the concrete whale belly
silver vinyl contraptions
and glinting white bubbled heat
It's an afternoon extravaganza
to pull the lazy strings 'round for a dip
Squinting at sun souls resoundingly fat
with the self affirmed moment gone stolen.
For aren't we all entitled to a swim?
A break in the blue where we lose all the weight
of honking cars, back lashing tires and such
which surreal us with fake pearly lights?
Whale belly bob us on two clouds and a craft
with a blue built intentionally pleasing
and find us revived in the moment at last
gone to toast and astounded with reason.
