Sweet Sarah My Love

The epitome of perfection on a blanket she lay, Smiling and cooing as I watched her that day, She needed a name now but where should I start? What shall I call the beat of my heart? The name can't be common it must be elite, But it can't be too bold, the name must be sweet, Yet her name must be regal, it must have a ring, When you hear it you'll know she's a child of the King, So I called out Delilah, Mary Jane and Suzette, But the precious name "Sarah" I could not forget, For a woman should carry a name that portrays, She is a princess indeed in all means and all ways, So I picked up my daughter and held her so near, As she lay on my chest I whispered in her ear, Your name will be Sarah and your world will know, That you are a princess wherever you go, A young child of spirit; as you grow we shall see, The woman that God's Grace has led you to be, Grow strong in the beauty of a blue sky above, For tomorrow you'll slay giants; Sweet Sarah My Love.

Georgia, this is a wonderful poem. I felt the closeness of Mother to child and the importance of a name came across strongly. It would make a very special gift to anyone who chose to call their child Sarah. A delightful read today.
