Sweet Little Guy

It's late, and my eyes fall; the day brought lots to think about. But what I think about most of all is one that's tiny, and stout. Sweet little guy with those big blue eyes, and that big shining smile. Ones as blue as the skies; for those I'd walk a country mile!! You are grandma's delight! Blesssed she is beyond compare. With the smile, and eyes that shine so bright. People do stop, and stare. People have said, he's a perfect Gerber baby, or model him in the shows. But I think just maybe, i'll get my joy by just sittin' back, and watchin' you grow! Your first steps, and the first words you'll say; all those I look forward to. Watch the changes each day and all the little things you will do! I can see puppy dog tails, water balloons romps in the backyard splashing in the pool. Grandma running around acting like a silly buffoon, And hearing you say, with sun glasses on, "grandma I'm cool." Bicycles, and kites, and first day at school Grandma will be there so proud. I will cry to see you go; there's no one I can fool. I'll watch you go into class as the bell rings so loud. Someday you'll get that twinkle in your eye, and I'll know just what it is. It'll be that little girl you spied, Blushing you'll say grandma that's none of your biz. And with a smile and a ruffle of your hair I'll say, with a smile, you know that's alright, but let me be by your side if there's ever anything you need to share, anytime, day or night. Someday you'll have a little boy like you, and then there'll be two of you to love. Thankful I am, it''s true, for the blessing from up above. Dedicated to My grandson born the first month of this year.
